How to Get Grass to Grow Under Your Trees. (May 20, 2002):

Do you have problems getting grass to grow under your trees? If so, there are several things you can do to remedy this. The first thing, is to make sure you're not using a chemical fertilizer around your trees. You should use only organic fertilizers. Try Milorganite; it's been around for years and is often used on golf courses. Make sure to give the area under your trees a treatment at least once every spring and fall.

If you have a weed problem, spray the area with a product like Weed-B-Gone. Spot spray or spray the whole area with a hose attachable sprayer if you have a lot of weeds. Don't forget, trees require a lot of water, so you'll want to water them during the hottest part of the summer. Do this at least once a week. Another thing that may help the grass to grow is to trim away some of the limbs to let more light and air in. If you have a question just email The Hardware Guy and watch for an answer.
